The RHB Story

How did the RHB story start?

Adi Treasurywala is a specialist in the field of life sciences technology-commercialization. He was once invited to attend a major medical conference in Boston.

The event planner requested his professional credentials for his nametag, and Adi asked that they just list his first name. He had found doing this at other shows allowed him to connect with people more easily.

The planner insisted on his full name and degrees stating the medical conference attendees were quite title sensitive.  So he requested his nametag read: Adi Treasurywala, PhD, BSc, RHB.
 
During the conference, a company president swung by his table. He commented he did not recognize “RHB.” “Real human being”, Adi replied. The nametag was the hit of the show.

If you have attended a Knocking down Silos event, you will know we are tribal in nature. We tend to live in silos and surround ourselves by people who look and sound like us. We judge outsiders by their degrees, their occupation, their skin colour, accent, religion, even the type of car they drive. In companies, sales barely tolerates marketing, operations dislikes accounting, HR rolls its eyes at legal.

These self-imposed limitations affect our ability to connect with others and impact our personal and business goals.

Being an “RHB” tells others that you are just a real human being, proud of what you do but still willing to respect others.

A point of commonality like this is a great connection that may lead to the perfect job, sale or friendship.
